Podcast #101 - Two Loons For Tea - Remix

March 4th, 2008

Seattle area band Two Loons For Tea, as remixed by yours truly. I had happened upon this band on myspace sometime ago and was never able to make it out to their shows. Then one fateful day I was contacted by Sarathan Records about being on my podcast. I explained to them that I only post original music by me, or remixes by me. To my surprise they agreed to a remix. I completed this one a long time ago, sometime in 2007, then with lots of complicating matters it got pushed back and there were lost CDs involved and confusion. Now finally I bring you the remix.

Expected Downtime, Feb. 8th

January 27th, 2008

DreamHost is moving the cluster that my site, and popyourcherry.com is hosted on.

The site will be down for Friday, February 8, at 10PM PST, and is expected to last up to 8 hours, until Saturday, February 9, 6AM PST. All web servers, mail servers, file servers, and MySQL servers will be unreachable during this time.

Of course this is when most of you will be out drinking so you won’t notice it at all.

(This has occurred already. Systems are moved, back up and fully operational.)

iPhone/iPod Touch Support

January 2nd, 2008

I’ve added a theme/plug-in for iPhone and iPod Touch optimized display of Wordpress content, it’s powered by iWPhone by Content Robot and it seems to work pretty well. I do have some kinks to work out to make it perfect but for now I think I’ll keep it enabled.

So until I get the theme working properly, here are links to the other parts of the site.
Gallery, Tech, Recipes, Music, Links, Store

As if there are many of you browsing my site with an iPhone.

I bought a 16GB iPod Touch for myself at Christmas, and I’m loving it. Not the out of the box one mind you, thats rather lackluster, but a jailbroken iPod Touch is a great piece of gadgetry. I’ve been able to get iPhone specific apps to install and work (Mail, Weather, Google Maps, Notes) and also installed other handy third party apps. Currently I have Stumbler, MobileScrobbler, Pumped, SummerBoard, Customize, SSH, and of course Installer. Out of everything though MobileScrobbler has to be my favorite, it will update my Last.fm profile with the music I’ve played on my Touch when I connect up to WiFi again, without having to install or synch on my computer.

There are a few wishlist kind of items I would like to see in a device like this…
The ability to download mp3 and videos from websites (not just iTunes Store) and save them to the library on the iPod for later syncing with iTunes back at PC just like iTMS purchases made on the device.
A BitTorrent client would be kind of cool, especially if above request worked.
Wireless BlueTooth headphones, it’s such a sexy device that it needs the look of no cables protruding from it.
Native Application development and installation without needing to hack the device. (coming soon maybe?)

I’ve been extremely happy with it for the last couple of weeks and it even works with my Audiobahn iPod controller in my car and is actually more responsive on it than my 4th and 5th gen iPods when they are connected.

I do have to say that with some minor improvements to the iPhone, the touch has given me the experience that I would like in a cell phone and could be my next purchase and an easy jump since I’m already an AT&T customer. I’m just waiting for multiple recipient SMS support.

2007….

December 28th, 2007

Where did the year go?

Sadly, most of it was spent toiling away behind copy and finishing machinery. It’s been a very lucrative year but yet all my creative projects have suffered immensely because of it. You can’t seem to have both creativity and money in my life, they are mutually exclusive.

But I assure you that there is new stuff coming. It’s been probably 5 months since any new music has been written, I’ve done one remix for Two Loons for Tea which will see release sometime soon and I’ve only done a couple photo shoots for band in current memory.

Those who are based out of Seattle, I’m playing my one and only appearance for the year at Jimmy Z’s in Everett Saturday, Dec 29th (tomorrow) I’ll be DJing in the Wired lounge, not sure on set time though. Show starts at 8pm, $8 cover, and the Jet City Rollergirls will be there.

The website has finally fallen into barely self-sustaining status, it’s now taking money out of my pocket for expenses but this doesn’t matter. I’m just glad there are people out there that find this site informative and sometimes entertaining. I have had the site running and profitable (though under $100 in my pocket a year) since 2004. Thankfully we’ve had rock solid hosting with DreamHost since the near misses and days of hosting the site on a Athlon 350 in my bedroom off DSL.

Here is to the 2008. Hope it goes as well as 2007 did for me.

For those who are curious, he works at the Lynnwood Bowl & Skate Friday through Monday, tell him Nate sent you.

Also, I’m doing a reboot of my flick.r picture a day project, I lost nearly the entire month of July so I’m going to restart the project from scratch on my birthday, which is September 12th, I’m going to update it here and at Flick.r so stay tuned for that. I also have some new music coming from Tony Sonic & myself under The Silverback name, so get prepared for that as well.

Podcast #100 - Brad Sucks Remix

August 21st, 2007

For those that don’t know who Brad Sucks is, then you are sorely missing out. I heard of Brad Sucks from fellow RemixFight! participant MC Jack In The Box, and I downloaded Brad’s album from his website and completely fell in love with it. Now I get my chance to put a Nate MC “Pink Sticky” on some Brad Sucks.

This is also the first song I’ve done in my new place.
